Today was an incredible day filled with wonderful moments that left me beaming even after the event was over. The National Library of Vietnam organized an event for book enthusiasts in honor of Vietnam’s Book and Cultural Day. During the morning panel discussion, a retired military general spoke about his latest book, which celebrated his legendary intelligence agent mentor with infinite respect and admiration, the same one whom he had immortalized in his writing. As I listened to the writer describing his mentor, I suddenly remembered a video about a brave and loyal soldier that I had seen not long ago. His vivid recollections gave me a deeper understanding of the complexities of his life. I promised myself I’d attend the afternoon panel discussion, which was about a book of poems, despite not knowing much about poetry. However, the verses from the epic poem recited by the poet who moderated the event created a calming, soothing atmosphere that enveloped my soul. The poet had based the poems on the love story of a young couple, which added to the charm of the collection. At the end of the event, a group photo was taken to commemorate the day, and from where I was sitting, that poet noticed me and took me to the stage ,said to the audienc: this girl is our special guest. I couldn’t contain my joy and gratitude. Destiny had something more in store for me as I chanced upon another poet. She asked me how I was getting home and informed me that she was there to receive a second prize for literature and reading. I guessed correctly that she was among the two poets who were awarded the prize. As we chatted, I learned that she was not only a poet but also a literary critic. It was incredible to have met two poets, and I hope to meet them again someday. Moreover, I had the chance to meet an amazing girl who shared many similarities with me, which we discovered while talking. She asked for my contact information, and we planned to attend upcoming book events together. I’m immensely grateful for meeting such lovely people who added so much color to my day.
